Michael Alig in New Prison

Will Michael's new prison allow photos to be taken of Michael or any other pictures of the prison? It would be great to have an updated picture of Michael. I am sure he is much happier to be in a better place even though it is still a prison.

That's a great and very sensitive question Robin! Pictures taken by visitors are not allowed inside or outside Prisons in NY! One time a of Michael's was just checking email on his Cell phone before going in, and he was removed during the visit to have his car searched! (He was allowed to continue his visit) The reason being, they don't allow visitors to take pictures, they say security reasons. We all know how popular Cell Phone pictures are now a days!
Each prison does have an inmate photographer that is in the visiting room on some days. This lovely picture has to be paid for when they call out "Pictures," and is taken with an instant camera in front of a backdrop on the wall. Sometimes it's even a lovely picture of water and palm trees!
In order to have a picture taken with Michael, Michael must consent! Well, one time by making him feel very guilty because of such a long and painful drive to visit him, Michael did consent to this painful process! He did make me promise to keep it private, and I have done that. Michael is very sensitive about how he looks, (as he always has) and in Prison you are not always able to look your best for your visit. That day he had not been able to shower and shave for a couple of days, so I understood his concern and promised him not to share the photo with others. I was just so happy to see him and for him to say yes, the picture was really just for me to remember that day.
Since I will be moving out of the area soon, and if he’s clean shaven, I may ask him on my next visit for a photo for this Blog that I can share with everyone! Maybe I’ll hold the pineapple hostage unless he says yes!

Thanks for all that info. I don't want my picture taken either when I am a mess. I respect you for keeping "your" precious picture private. I know how you feel about keep things personal. It is always nice to have a personal item just for yourself. Hold on to it babe.
I will hopefully be seeing a picture soon.
