Visiting Michael

I went to visit Michael on Monday, a little later than usual as I stopped to do his grocery shopping on the way up. Believe it or not, Michael loves to eat healthy! It’s very hard to do in prison, as they cook the shit out of the food so there’s not much taste left. Also, Michael doesn’t eat red meat, so without bringing him food he’s left eating mostly junk food from the Commissary!

Eastern NY is a Non-TV prison, meaning the inmates are allowed 2 “Home food packages” a month. (Home food is a food package I can pack myself, not having to order it from one of the “approved” prison stores. He can have a total of 35 pounds a month instead of being able to have a TV in their Cell. Don’t ask me how this ever came to be, but I guess maybe they have a rule on how many nice things they can have in prison in NY!

I always need to find Michael a good source of protein (get your minds out of the gutter you pervs!)  that he’ll eat, as he’s a picky eater! Whenever I find something he likes, it gets discontinued! Actually, that happens to me all the time too! I picked up some Purdue Roasted Turkey this time, so I’m waiting to hear if he likes it.

Since Coxsackie decided not to allow whole pineapples in the prison even though I was bringing him one every month, he had not had one in almost a year, so I decided to go for it! Eastern let it in, no problem! Those CO’s are always very nice there, and I make sure to tell them every time I go! Even the Superintendent is very nice and approachable! I can’t believe I have no complaints about the Prison Staff!

So, Michael got some great fruit, veggies, chicken, turkey, and all his favorite foods! With what I bring, and what he can buy in the Commissary, he manages to put together decent meals so he doesn’t go hungry!

There’s always more to say, so check back again soon!

    Thanks for all that info.
I know how hard it is in finding food for someone who doesn't eat certain things. I am a vegetarian and it is hard finding great tasting food. Even "fresh" veggies are hard to find due to some being grown in water and they don't have much flavor. Spring is nearly here so great veggies will be here real soon. Fresh pineapple, yum.
Be careful, Michael will get fat if you keep feeding him such great food.
