Michael Alig info on visiting him.

For those people who were used to seeing my updates on the Proboard message board, I wanted to let you know that I am no longer posting there. There is too much drama, and no one really seems to care about Michael. Most of those people don’t even write to Michael, and that was confirmed by Michael himself. Also, Ricki is not running it as Michael wants her to, so he has had no input. It just turned into a place for wannabe Club Kids!

I have an ongoing friendship with Michael, and we currently write a lot since he’s not allowed to call. I also can’t visit him anymore as I’m disabled, and have moved further away from him. So, I help him by scheduling his friends to visit him. I have been told that Ricki on the Proboard is telling people to contact her if they want to visit. Anyone that does that may not get into the prison when they go to visit, because someone may have already taken his weekly visit. Ricki is well aware that Michael has me doing the visiting, and she’s acting this way out of spite. I just hope that no one travels all that way only to be turned away at the prison door.

July is currently filled up for visiting Michael, and half of August. There is only 4 visits a month, so it can fill up quickly, which is a good thing for Michael!

Michael had a nice visit with Teresa this past Sunday, even though the vending machines were quite empty. She said he was a bit depressed when she arrived, but his mood got better as the day went on. She reports that he did look quite thin.

Michael thinks he has lost around 25 lbs since he’s been in Southport. That’s due to him not eating the poor quality food. Normally he would receive food packages and eat most of his meals from that, but he’s not allowed any privileges like that while in this prison.

Remember, if you’d like to visit Michael, send me a comment with your email. Don’t worry, I won’t publish your personal info on this Blog!

You are great for Michael and I am sure he realizes it.
Thanks LP for keeping us informed on everything, and I mean everything about Michael.
Michael will leave a better person, one day from prison with the help of you, and it is very obvious that you care so very much for Michael and I am so happy to say that from my heart.

      Robin,

You and I think alike, and also care about Michael as friends. You also help him, as right now even a letter helps! I know you wish you could do more for him now, as I also do, but we can't while he's being "punished."

I'm happy to have just survived emergency surgery on my spinal cord, and happy I'm still around!

        Thanks, LP.
I just had to get some steam off my chest.
I sneak onto the board at times, but find in uninformative and a load of crap. I keep hoping things would change and info on Michael would start up again, but I guess it will never be.
Thanks LP for keeping us abreast on things. Did I just say breast? So funny. You are a treasure.

I don't understand the role of that Board now. When I was able to post, I kept everyone as you said, "abreast" of how Michael was doing since I had a lot of contact with him. I thought that was a good thing, but apparently not since I'm unable to log on anymore. Many Board members always thanked me for keeping them updated, and I was glad to be able to do that. I spent my life helping people, and that need didn't go away when I had to stop working due to my disability. I'm glad that I can still help Michael by being his friend. Robin, you are one of the few Board members that actually write to Michael on a regular basis. People don't understand how a simple letter can help him, and will make him smile. You also joined me with sending him food, as we know his smile lasted much longer with good chocolate! I hope you remain his friend along with me, as Michael needs real friends that won't run away when the times get tough.

      Juno,

You are right about that! He only has the food they give them, which isn't very good, so he doesn't eat too much. On visiting days he stuffs himself with food from the vending machines. I let the visitors know to go right to the vending machines when they arrive, as sometimes they have salads and fruit plates. I tell them to buy all his favorite foods before they're sold out!
