Michael Alig's light at the end of the "Tunnel" is lit

Michael called me tonight, and sounded more positive than he has been since arriving back at Coxsackie. He met with his Counselor, and requested to attend the 6 month drug program and NA meetings. Michael will be put on awaiting list for both, but since he's close to his Conditional Release date, his name will go higher up on the list. Michael explained that he can't get out on Conditional release until he completes the 6 month drug program. That means he can't be released in March. If he is granted all of his Good Time back that he lost over the years, he will leave State prison when he finishes the 6 month program.

Michael didn't want to get over excited, as he still doesn't know what will happen. I like the fact that Michael's Counselor agrees with me, as I think he has a good chance to get out in around 6 months.

We'll have to wait and see.
