Michael Alig attacked because he is Gay
I finally got a letter from Michael, so finally we get to hear first hand why he was attacked. Michael was being harassed in the library by another inmate, sexual harassment, calling Michael a "Faggot" amongst other choice words. Michael endured all this unwelcome attention for almost a full hour, until he could no longer remain silent. Michael tried to diffuse the situation with an intelligent comeback which he has done in the past in other situations. The verbal harassment did stop, and Michael went back to what he was doing.
A few minutes later the same guy tapped Michael on the shoulder, and when Michael turned around he was hit in the mouth which sent Michael to the ground. Michael was dazed and didn't even know what happened, but was aware that he was being punched. Luckily the other inmates in the room pulled the attacker off of Michael, as there was no Officer around!
When an officer did come in to the library, he saw that something had gone on and wrote up Michael and his attacker for minor offences in reference to "creating a disturbance" and "conduct that disrupts order." It wasn't until Michael returned to his Cell that the Officer on his Block saw that he was injured. Now Michael gets hit with more of the same charges again, but this time including fighting and violent conduct.
Michael did have his Hearing, and he received 6 days Keeplock which is over now, and 21days loss of phone and packages. They knew he wasn’t the aggressor, but Michael was told he could have avoided all of this "by not acting obviously gay." Michael told them he can't help being Gay. He was then told that he made the "choice" to be Gay, and if he really wanted to he could"choose" to be "normal" again.
None of this will affect when he is released, and that's the most important part of all this!

I Pm'd Steve Lewis and he was kind enough to write back and tell me Michael was doing well and his attitude was "spot on". I know we all have our fingers crossed and I tell you that if you ever talk to him in person, you can tell he will do great things when he gets out.

OMG Thank you so much for sharing this. It is a clear violation of human rights. I am so sad. He is one of my favorite people in the world. I am a member of The Human Rights Campaign. It is a glbt based human rights group. They would be pissed. If you are interested email me and I can give you the info. Keep up the good work luv

This is Sickening! I have written to the congress and senate reps from the area and reposted the account of the attack on a few LGBTQ sites. We all KNOW that just one letter won't get any further than a snowball in hell, but, if people who have a soul and have been or known/loved someone who has been bashed will write a letter to each rep and repost the attack and handeling therof to everyone they knoe...MAYBE someone will have to sit up and take notice!
Muahz Michael..t's almost over hotness!
