Heatwave hits Coxsackie

The heat wave takes a toll on everyone, especially those in prison. Coxsackie has been oppressive, and all Michael could do was lay motionless on his bunk. His small fan only provided minimal comfort in his Cell but he was grateful for that, as he said some others don't even have a fan.  At least he didn't laugh at me when I asked if the prison was handing out ice and setting up extra fans! The only relief is to have visitors, as the only A/C to be found is in the visiting room!

Oh poor darling! Good thing he, at least, has a fan, but that only does so much when the weather is sorching and he's stuck inside a small room. It's been in the high 90's in Seattle, which is unusally hot for here. I've been complaining about the heat and only having one fan myself, but at least I'm able to leave my condo. I really shouldn't complain at all, considering there are many people who have it much worse than me.
I recently sent him a book, magazines, postcards, and a few letters. Anything to distract him from where he's at and what he has to deal with. I was so estactic is hear from him last week! Definitely made my heart melt reading his letter. As always, I wish the best for Michael & I hope he's able to hold up okay in the heat. I wish I could send ice in the mail!

That's so nice of you to send him things to keep him busy! That's been my goal, especially when he's been in the Hole, as I felt that would keep him sane. I'm a little surprised that the prison system doesn't have a heatwave policy, but then again I guess not too many taxpayers would complain if a convict dies of heat exhaustion.
