Michael Alig on his way to Medium!
I got a call letting me know that Michael will be traveling tomorrow upstate to a Medium security prison. They are not allowed to give this info out, and since the phones are listened in on the caller did tell me when I asked that the name of the new prison started with an F and it was upstate. I figured out that It's Franklin Correctional Facility, but of course
we should wait for it to be officially changed before sending mail,
just in case.
Franklin is in Malone NY, near Canada! It's a 6 and a 1/2 hr drive from NYC, so I guess I'll have to stop recruiting his NYC friends to go visit! Please be aware that if you didn't yet get a Christmas card from him, it may be a while as I'm assuming that all his belongings are packed in boxes, and he may not have them for a week or 2.
I will update when I hear from Michael.

Yes, Yayyyyyy is correct! Coxsackie is run like a boot camp, and he didn't have a job or program to keep him busy. The bad part is he may not have many visitors anymore.

Why is that? Is it because he's in an out-of-the-way place?
Hopefully he doesn't have too much time left in the penal system anyway...

Malone, NY is a 6 1/2 hr drive from NYC! He won't have many visitors, except maybe a few that are interviews. His xmas visitor has plane reservations that may be useless now that he's moved, and others from across the country have plans to visit that may not work out unless the plane is not booked yet. NY is very big! Malone is close to Canada and I've been told it's like a ghost town!

Yay is in order! In medium security he'll be kept busy, that's what he needs. The bad thing is he'll have no visitors since he's 6 1/2 hours from NYC.

It's great to hear that he is being transferred so soon. He was originally thinking mid-February. I sincerely hope that this will be a facility that will better accommodate his physical and creative needs.
This does affect my visit to him. I have booked a trip to Coxsackie from 1/14 - 1/17, so I will most definitely need to be make some travel changes. As soon as you find out, can you please let me know where he is located and if his visitation dates have changed? Thank you so much!

It is great for him, not so for you! We will wait and see, but medium security visiting is usually only weekends, and maybe just one day. Hopefully the 17th will be extra visiting for the holiday, we'll find out asap and I'll let you know. I know he's upset that he's messed up your's and others plans to visit even though it's not his fault.

this is good news. i just got a letter from him today and he wrote about how he was looking forward to a transfer, that came from coxsackie. im glad i checked up on this blog today or i would have wrote him back at the same address. thanks

He was waiting on approval for the transfer, he never expected to be transferred this quickly. Coxsackie is not a good place, as it's run like a boot camp and no other prison seems to be like that. He was stuck in a tiny cell 23 hrs a day because they had no job for him, so he really needed to get out of there.

I understand that Fishkill is a medium and he wants to go there, but the inmate who told me upstate is living in Coxsackie, not NYC. Everyone in NY state thinks anything north of them is upstate, as I recently moved out of Westchester County and Fishkill was upstate to me. I hope he is in Fishkill, but we'll know soon for sure.

Aw well im glad hes getting moved to a different place! hopefully it is better then the last <3 <3 I just today recieved a reply to my first letter i sent him and it brightened my day! thankfully i checked in on your blog before i sent him my next letter! already wrote back and everything hehe xD well when do you think you will be finding out his new location? well ill keep checking back here to see when to send my next letter hope its soon enough! <3 always Dejanna

I'm so glad he was able to respond to you before he moved! It is exciting to get that first letter from him! Reaching out to someone in need (meaning being in prison) really shows him he is cared about, and you are a special person for doing that.

I know i was really excited i was like half asleep and then i received it and immediately read it wrote back and then came on here lol! aw well thank you that makes me feel good
