Michael Alig waiting on job assignment

Michael had his orientation on Monday, and expects to be moved out of Reception into a regular Dorm soon. He has no idea what job he'll be assigned to, as he doesn't need to take any programs so he must have a job. He is interested in being a Porter, but he's heard that he probably won't get that job.

Even though this prison has many more positive aspects than Coxsackie, there still are many downfalls. In this prison, it seems that a lack of medical and dental care is a big issue that will bother Michael for as long as he's there.

The positive things there include the socializing with the other inmates (even though there are a few bad ones) and the ability to do limited food preparation. They can't cook like we can, but at least he has access to a microwave, a stove and a fridge. They seem to be obsessed with cake! I guess because when was the last time they could bake their own cake?

Visiting is only one day a week, rotating weekend days like Coxsackie was. It doesn't look like he'll have many visitors anyway, even though he still asks me everyday if he has any scheduled. The most interest seems to be those friends that travel a long way, even across the Country! Hopefully some NYC friends will take a road trip on occasion to keep Michael sane.

That's very upsetting to hear that the medical and dental care is minimal. I know that this is something that concerns Michael quite a bit.
I am glad to know that he is able to cook (almost) freely. He's told me that enjoys cooking, so that's a good thing.
I am trying my damnest (as you know) to come visit him. It really means a lot to me to make it out there, as I promised that I would. Of course, I am elated to see Michael again. One visit is never enough! I wish that I lived closer; I'd come all the time!

hearing that Michael isn't getting visitors hurts my heart cuz I would visit him IN A SECOND If I had the money to fly to NY myself. Believe you me. Lol no seriously tho. I can't express enough how bad I want to meet him. My lifes been real crazy lately so I haven't had the time to write, but I'm an open book so when I do I'll let him into my world a little bit. But yeah I live in Southern California and barely made it up to my parents house in NV for the holidays cuz I can't afford anything.
I'll be writing him VERY soon tho and I'm crazy excited for him to get it XD.

Thanks for keeping us updated as always and tell him that there are a ton of people who want to meet him who don't have the cash. Send our love <3

    Well, who DOESN'T like cake!?

It's sweet that he asks about visitors... I wish I could visit him! But I do hope people go see him and make him feel loved!

Can Michael bake cupcakes? I have oodles of cupcake recipes I'd love to share with him if he'd like some? I also have a ton of pie and dessert recipes. I'm not sure if he could use recipes or not, but if so just let me know and I'll send some over to him! Anything to brighten his days!
