I think you should write to him. So many people, including myself started that way! I had never done anything like that before, but did find a Board online 1st, and actually did have contact with his mother before I wrote. I just clicked with him, even more once we started talking. Same thing 1st time visiting, I was nervous, but he knows how to tell a story, and remembers so much about those days. I was so surprised to find that he was not institutionalized, he was a better Michael. He's even better now, but I have gone through some bad times with him, but I stuck by him while he was in trouble and did what I could to help him through. That meant more letters, and then sending books and magazines instead of food since he wasn't allowed packages in the Hole. It's a horrible place, prison, but when you're locked up with nothing in the Hole, plus can only shower 2x a week, it's hard to stay motivated. He has never been violent in prison, he's always nice, polite, and very smart when dealing with the other inmates, which has kept him alive.
He does get a lot of mail, but you should still write if that's what you feel. As you can read here. you may be pleasantly surprised!

How do you do a money order to Michael? Do you just send cash in a separate envelope from your letter or is there something else you have to do?

You should buy a money order for the stamp money. When you fill it out, in the "pay to the order of" line should be
"Michael Alig #97A6595" Make sure your full name and address is written on the money order. The prison system is very strict with all their rules! You can send it in the same envelope you use to send him a letter.
Any other questions, please ask!

Hello. I briefly read over a few of your posts. And I'm curious, did you begin communication with Michael out of the blue? I can see that he attracts tons of attention. Not just because of what poeple will learn through the media, but also because he seems to such a charming, and charismatic person. I know a few people like that. Very infectious. I love it! Anyway, I would like to make contact with him, and possibly get to know him a little better. But I ask myself why I would do that. I don't do anything like that. Ha Ha. But you say that is how you felt at some point, right? Does this make us crazy? I am the kind of person that doesn't like to judge others based off what another person said, or how the media tries to portray someone. I would like to be where you were, face to face. Hand in hand, and just listen, and talk to the man. Is that strange? I will write him, in fact. I understand he gets a crap ton of mail. And so all I can do is wait for a reply. Question. How did you come across his mother? That's crazy/awesome. Anyway, in any case, maybe we can k/i/t?

No, I didn't write Michael out of the blue, as it was on my mind for quite a while. I checked out his life online, and joined a "Board" where friends and fans posted. I had NEVER done that before to anyone famous! We just "clicked!"
I don't think we're crazy for writing, actually we have a lot of confidence in ourselves to do what we want without worrying about what others think.
I "came across his mother" on a "Board" as I asked a question about writing to him and she was the one who responded. She's always eager to talk about her son!
