Michael Alig's New 2011 Documentary on Internet!
The start of it is posted! So, for those who ask what Michael looks like now you can see! He was filmed at Coxsackie shortly before he went to Franklin.
I didn't know something would be released now, but I'm glad they're sticking with it even though his release may be delayed now.
It's just a tease, but go see!

Wow, those images of Coxsackie are haunting. Brings me back to my visit with him there. It was almost like Shawshank Redemption; you think that these types of places only exist in movies. This was the first time that I'd visited Michael, and actually being there and seeing him in such a place, really brought reality to his circumstances. It was very emotional and scary. However, this was also the first time that I'd gotten to see Michael's smile and hear his laugh in-person. If any of you get to meet him or have met him, this is something that will stick with your heart forever.

Do you know when the movie comes out? And i gotta ask since you have met or know michael do you think he will readjust to life now and all the changes? I mean most people act like the party scene is gone but it's just changed...there are still clubs like the limelight all over the place. Also do you know when his release date is?
just curious

The movie won't be out for quite a while. They are interviewing friends now, as I was interviewed for it on Sunday. They plan to follow him when he gets released, and for 2 weeks after that.
He doesn't know when he'll get out. He has not had good luck with the prison system, even though he's never been violent in there, and has been clean and sober. When he's released from Southport to another prison, he'll be there at least 6 months before he's eligible to get out, so maybe in a year. He does have Parole in July, but no one puts much hope in the Parole Board. Maybe if his friends that knew him back when all this happened would write supportive letters to the Parole Board now, he could have a chance. They won't accept letters from most of us out here that only knew him after he went to prison.
Michael probably won't be allowed in the club scene, as I doubt Parole will allow it. He has a lot of paintings so will have a show, his book will come out, and he has all kinds of ideas for projects, but none that I heard have anything to do with a club.
Michael will be busy learning about the internet, cell phones, and all the new electronics when he gets out, and may have some issues, but I think he'll love it all! Keeping busy and staying away from anyone that uses will be the key to stay out of prison.

Hmmm... that was interesting, but... I guess I feel like it focuses too much on the past, whereas I think Michael needs to continue to look towards the future.

This starting filming because it was thought he would be out last Oct. It's really mostly going to be following him around when he's released, but they started the project, so they need to keep it going.

This is an ongoing project designed to follow him after he gets out and beyond.

I know. I just hope that if his release date is pushed back, they don't lose interest in finishing it.
Who is the first guy they interview? The one that says no one called themselves club kids, were just called that by other people until Michael embraced the name?

The Documentary really was to be following Michael when released. They still plan on doing this, so they are doing other interviews on the outside now until Michael is released.

i saw the video and could only think how wonderful he looked. his face is so beautiful/handsome. he has kept his sweet smile and his contagious laugh and his brilliant mind has kept him strong and let him keep his personality. its been 9 years since i have seen my son since i can't make this long of a drive on my own. but i get messages from friends that visit him and tell me how delighted they are to have met Michael in person. soon i pray we will be reunited and get to hold each other.

The trailer tries to draw people in with anticipation with a "who is this michael alig that did 14 years for a murder rap" It seems like it will focus on "clubland" and angels murder. I'd rather see the focus on michael as the charismatic individual that he is that rebirthed nyc nightlife after Warhol's death and how he will adjust to a different world. I think it is more impressive that a man can perpetuate such support and have so many caring friends like all of you after 14 years of incarceration. Through my experience I found it uncommon for people to keep contact with the outside world after seven years. Even people who were on top of the world are forgotten in prison. Michael has a heart of gold and he draws people. It is hard to find genuine character in such a plastic world and I think that is what a lot of people admire about him. Focus on that not the media lure of a subculture just trying to have fun that drew so many people who were writing about things they don't understand. Maybe everyone got a kick out of the ignorance displayed in articles and syndicated talkshows but the world has seen enough of that. Hopefully at the completion of this documentary those who have been curious of who this man is will have a different view then some drugged out party promoter that killed someone. It amazes me the way people are so attracted to others demise. Michael will soon have a second chance at life and I wish him the best. I wish I could know him the way some of his close friends do. He is a real person with feelings not a commodity to make money of off. I look forward to this documentary and I hope that Michael and those close to him have a say in the editing.

Please tell me they are still going to continue this even though that situation that is blocking his release happened. It seems like something that he could look forward too and if they cancel making it on top of that just happened...that would be so sad

They still are doing it!

His mother hasn't seen him in NINE years?! There must be another reason than just the long drive...
Reply to this
Well, she can answer right here if she wants to, but she doesn't have to justify the reasons as they may have nothing to do with Michael, which is why this blog is here.

No there isn't any other reason - and if someone thinks he found one then it's people interpretating shit into things making it up
