Michael's Lawyer experiences being "locked up" while fighting for his rights!

If you can believe, Michael has yet to meet his Lawyer! She did what she needed to do as a Lawyer to visit him, but the CO's at Southport wouldn't let her in! Well, this past Friday, she went in with a Subpoena, and the Master Sargent tore it up! Well, that's a crime, so the police were called and he was arrested.

Michael's Lawyer went to Court where the Master Sargent appeared to answer for ripping up the Subpoena, and she ended up in a heated debate with the Judge. It started out with fines for Contempt, but Michael's Lawyer loves to fight for what's right, and fines turned into jail!

She spent the weekend in Jail, as the Judge would not let her bail out. Lucky for her it wasn't
Southport! For her troubles, the Master Sargent is suspended from his job! She plans on doing what she can to make Southport operate the way it should. She plans on going back with another Lawyer this week to finally meet with Michael.

I will not stop fighting for Micheal. The Judge issued a gag order, and the information of the summons cannot be discussed, with anyone at southport. If the information is release, an investigation will be held. also, the health dept is working on not allowing the inmates to work work in the kitchen no longer. due to the disgusting habits that go on in there.. I have been working with a supreme court judge who has alot of pull.. and i am pulling a male lawyer in with me to get the Lt. and New Mst Sgt. so they they can stop bullying me. and he has work as a advocate for civil rights, and has worked for the judge i work with as a legal aid, so we both have access to him. We will do our best for Micheal, We are Fighters, and we will not stop until we hit the last possible resort.. Our mission is to Get Michael moved to a Med facility in Fishkill. and have his Parole hearing re-established. and Move
Forward with his life. and get the bitch in albany, to turn-over her decision, that ruined his last parole hearing, and the one before that. The parole Board is not allowed to let the outside world, to influence the hearing board. but it did anyway.

Again, what happened Last weekend I would do it all over again.. I have no regrets.. it was worth it to prove to the system that they cannot not get away with anything..

I'll admit this is the first time I've really felt scared for Michael's safety. Gag order or not I suspect the other guards will find out why the master sargent was suspended and who knows what they might do in response (especially if he is popular among the staff.)

Holy Moly! That's intense! I can't believe the guard only got suspended, he should have lost his job-he intentionally broke a regulation I feel so bad for Michael, I wish things would fall into place for him a little more smoothly. But, at least something is in motion for him! Give him my best, Lovepurple

I'm worried about him too. Has anybody heard from him since he's been in there? Tearing up a subpoena on the part of an official at a prison is a very bad sign. If a representative of the law can openly scoff at the law like that and only get suspended, it really makes you wonder what else happens there. The corruption is obviously and very frightening.

It takes time for his money account to be transferred when he was transferred, so in the prison's eye Michael has no money now. Once it does get transferred, and/or a money order comes into Southport for him, he has to wait for his Commissary day to buy stamps.

MAN! I was kinda worried till I saw the ORIGINAL post regarding his lawyer being denied access to him(always told that Attorneys should have 'pretty much' unrestricted access especially with ANY upcoming court, parole, etc visits... At least thats how TX allows my mother to 'ply her lawyering trade', but she plays in the CPS leaugues so... Maybe NOT AS RESTRICTIVE? I'm holding Michael's letter I JUST GOT like 4 minutes ago, need to read, just AM KIND OF WORRIED! Hope all is well, I guess I missed when he was transferred to 'Southport' when my letters were sent to 'Franklin'.....FINGERS CROSSED!!!

Its also been my experience that when a guard does something like that they just move him to another prison and it will most likely be a women's prison where he will probaly rape and abuse defenseless female inmates there....

The system is broken. The problem is that unless you have had a friend or relative in prison, you don't care what happens to the inmates in there! Maybe after Michael is helped, his Lawyer can start a big Lawsuit on behalf of the inmates in NY! Something has to change, and fast!

I completely agree. It's overwhelming, the travesties that abound inside and the apathy on the part of us outside, and the numbers of inmates growing so rapidly because of drugs.

they would need a large majority of the public to make a stand and grab the attention of the govenor. Unfortunately there is too much ignorance in the state. The only people who understand are those who have a loved one incarcerated. A lot of people think if you are in jail you did something to be there so screw you. Those people just never got caught! Whether in prison or not we still have a right against cruel and unusual punishment. If anyone starts a petition count me in

Yes, he's getting his mail now! There will be a wait for responses, as his money has to be transferred from Franklin, and then he has to wait for his next commissary day to buy stamps.

I still recommend sending a check or money order as that way you'll have proof if he doesn't receive it.

I remember seeing Michael and the rest of the Club Kids on tv when I was 6. I followed his story when I got older, around 13. Ive always wanted to meet him. I feel like I know him or somethin...It's a tragedy that Michael succumbed to his dark instincts in that situation years ago... I hoped to meet him then, but maybe I'll get a chance when he's finally released! I'm gonna fly to NY from GA. Ive been, somewhat, nervous to write him... because I dont wanna seem like a wannabe or a stalker. I just feel like I connect w/ him on certain levels though we've never talkd, I hope we'll have a friendship one day soon. I believe I'm gonna disregard my usual shy-like character, andand write him! I send my best to Michael and hope to see him someday!

I think now is the perfect time to write! He has plenty of time to answer. Most people seem to debate about writing because they feel that connection but think it's stupid because they have never even met, or spoken to Michael! You'll find it to be something you wished you'd done earlier, but glad you finally did, so go and write him!

      Just in case, here's his address;

      Southport Correctional Facility
      Michael Alig #97A6595
      236 Bob Masia Drive
      P.O. Box 2000

Hi, I'm thinking of writing to Michael but before I do I was just wondering if there's anything in particular I could send him? I'm in the UK where we can send money, cd's, and food items to people in prison but I'm guessing by all of the entries on here that's probably not the case there.

If someone could let me know that would be great- I'd love to send him something to make his day a little brighter in there!!

Since he's "In The Hole" he's not allowed packages. But, you can send magazines (he loves UK magazines), books (true crime)  cards, newspapers, money (he doesn't ask for money, I just think people should send enough for return postage)  and of course encourging letters!

He's very sad that he's not been able to write back, but once he's able to purchase stamps (please don't send any, not allowed) he will start writing back to everyone!

We are not allowed to send him stamps. They will be thrown out. Stamps are money in prison, that's why they limit the amount they can buy. 50 stamps a month is not enough for Michael, so luckily inmates "trade" in there, as Michael does a lot to be able to respond to everyone. He said again in his last letter that he feels so bad that he has not been able to write to everyone, but now he can start! He is still asking for letters, magazines and books! If you do mail a magazine or book, just comment on it so that no one sends a double, as maybe that's why he hasn't received any yet. If you have sent some, let me know as I'm worried that he may not be receiving them.

If his Lawyer comes through and gets this lastest "set up" off his record, he could still get out late this year. If not, maybe May 2012. Yes, you are right, he has done more than enough time. He has never been violent in prison, so others in his situation would be out already. Freeze is out, which proves that the crime was not the reason to keep Michael in!
