Missing gifts arrive, but not at Southport!

When Michael first got railroaded in Franklin, he was put in the Hole, and only allowed books and magazines. Besides myself, many others out here said they sent him things, but Michael claimed he never got any of it. Well, today I got a box in the mail, and inside are lots of packages! I only looked at a few so far, but it seems like a lot of un-opened books and magazines sent from all of us!

So if you sent him something to Franklin Correctional, please email me (
comments@michaelaligblog.com) let me know the following;

1) What did you send?

2) do you want it back, or is it ok that I send it to Michael?

3) If it's very personal and you don't want me to open it to mail it to him, please let me know your return address and what you want done with it.

I'll probably send them in a few shipments depending on what Michael wants. He may have a limit on the amount of books he can have in his Cell, so that's why I won't send them all at once right now.

Please don't buy any magazines or books now, at least for a little while as he'll have plenty to read!

He'll be very happy to hear that his things you sent were not thrown away! He doesn't like anyone spending money on him, but if they do, he doesn't want them to get ripped off!

I will send him a list of who sent what to him as long as the package has a return address. If I come across one that doesn't, I'll list it here and you can claim it.

Thank you for being so generous to Michael!

Just FYI, while in the hole Michael is allowed to have a total of 10 books, magazines or newspapers in his cell (7 NY ADC 303.2)

I hope you're correct, but I have asked Michael just to confirm. Thank you for the info!

I only sent him clothes, I think, and of COURSE I want them to be given to HIM. I sent him a few shirts and some other stuff that I can't remember... I tried to send him everything I found with his name on it

Is there anything we CAN send him now?

Someone sent him 2 t-shirts which I have now. He will never be allowed to have these in prison because of the color. There's many rules for clothes! Also, many rules in general so it's frustrating to try to send him things, that's why I always answer questions anyone has about sending items to Michael. It turns out quite expensive, not just to us, but also to Michael, as if he sends it back, he has to pay for that postage.

Right now he's only allowed books and magazines, but I have about 100 magazines that Franklin Correctional never gave to Michael, well never even opened the packages, so I'll be sending them to him in small increments.

Send Birthday cards! His Birthday is April 29th!

When we send magazines, do we just send in a large envelope? I mean, they don't have to be shrink-wrapped or anything, right?

You can send new or used magazines in an envelope they fit in. Please do not send letters with books and/or magazines as it has been returned for some. I'm not sure there's a rule against it, but books and magazines go through a different search process than letters, so they may not want to be bothered with sending the same package though both process rooms. Just my thought!

I am disabled and can't work anymore. I used to be a work-a-holic, and I always helped people, so it seems I'm doing so on a limited basis now.
