Michael not receiving everyone's mail
I hear many times on here when people tell me "I sent Michael 2 letters already and he has not written back." I still encourage people to keep writing in case he's out of stamps. There is another reason that Michael wouldn't write back, and I have mentioned it over and over again. If you don't put your full name and address on the envelope, Michael will not get your letter.
In the letter I received today from him, he said that everyday, 1-4 letters to him are thrown away because they don't have a full return address, so Michael is not allowed to have them. So please be aware of this and know that the prison doesn't have any exceptions to the rule! Michael doesn't get to see the letters so he doesn't know who's letters are being thrown away! Please, address your letters to Michael correctly!

So true what Lovepurple said. I have had this mentioned to me as well. Even if someone puts stamps in the envelope..Michael will not get the letter. PLEASE EVERYONE TAKE YOUR TIME WHEN ADDRESSING YOUR ENVELOPE TO MICHAEL AND WRITE YOUR FULL ADDY ON IT. MICHAEL WANTS ALL OF YOUR MAIL. IT MAKES HIM HAPPY.

Why not write to Michael yourself and tell him this? He does love to travel!
You must put your full name and address on every piece of mail you send to Michael, or he will not get it! The prison makes NO exceptions!

I know many don't want others to know that Michael will write them back because his letters do have the prison address on them. lol
My roommate saw one of Michaels letters and was like "Why is this letter from a prison?" hahaha. Once I told him how I write Michael he was in shock.He now has written Michael 2 times after seeing Party Monster.

Early on I also heard many comments from my friends about my involvement with Michael. I have lived by one rule in life, and here it is; I will do whatever I want as long as it's legal and doesn't hurt anyone. So, no one had the right to tell me who to be friends with.
Many people will never give Michael a chance just because of what happened that one time, but he has also done some good things as well, in and out of prison.
In time you may have a lot of friends writing to Michael!

I remember my first letter to him and was so happy he wrote me back so quickly. I have written him many times and he's very funny. I've always gotten a response from him when I sent him a letter.
I wish he wasn't in the hole though.The time must go by so slow.

It goes by very slow! When he's out of there it will be a relief for me as I won't have to write so many letters!

Hello,
I always wanted to write to Michael but have always afraid of what to say... what do I talk about? I'm sure he's heard it all before and when I do decide to write, I want him to know that my letter is from the heart.

Tell him about yourself! What you're into, tell him anything and everything! Nothing will shock him, just be honest. Most people feel the same way you do before the 1st letter.

I felt the same way, and LovePurple had to encourage me to write him. I'm glad I did. It was so exciting to get a letter back. He's a very good writer.

I'm not sure if there's a limit, but I can send 2 pages and 5 pics in one envelope for one stamp.

The first time I wrote Michael I just sent him a Hallmark card with something cute on it to let him know he was being thought of...he responded within 3 weeks, and so the correspondence has kept going. You don't need to always say a whole lot...just let him know he is being thought of. I just received a letter from him on Friday, and I think I look forward to his letters as much as he looks forward to ours.

I just got done reading a bunch of old and more recent interviews Michael has done from prison and he's so funny. The ones with Walt Paper and Chris Bollen were great. Steve Lewis's articles from his visits are nice. I can't wait until Michael is out of that prison. He comes across as smart,funny and playful. Just like his letters. I'm so happy this blog of your's exists!

Oh how frustrating. I sent a letter around three weeks ago, and usually he writes me within a week, and I had money with the letter too, so now I'm wondering if it got to him! I know I was careful about the address, cuz I always try to be, but now I'm wondering if I should just send another letter.
He's been in my thoughts and prayers cuz there was that earthquake a couple days ago and theres a hurricane heading here this weekend. Do they keep the prisoners safe in natural disasters? I can't help but worry...

Just send him another letter and ask if he got it.
He is far enough upstate that he won't be affected by the storm. All those prisons are made of brick and stone, very stable!

I often laugh when I read about how people are afraid to write Michael. He doesn't bite and loves letters of all kinds. I know Michael loves variety. Fans don't need to feel they have to write about Party Monster or the Club Kids to get his interest. Michael wants letters from nice people. He doesn't have much to choose from when it comes to nice people where he is now. lol

Very well said! I hope others will take your advice and write! Michael is special person in a bad place, so he really needs a lot of contact from the outside to stay sane! I know it's a pain in the ass to write letters now, as we all love email, and texting, but your hard work will pay off in the future when you can talk on the phone, see him in person, and then email, texting, and video chat! I have said it before, he keeps a list of those who write to him, so if people have told you "he'll forget all about you when he gets out" that's not true. On the other hand, you shouldn't think that he owes you when he gets out. I already predict he'll be very busy once out, and am fine with just emails! As long as I don't have to write any more letters I'll be happy!
