Michael Alig's Visiting Schedule
Michael has
visitors the following days;
Saturday October 1st (so no one can go on Sunday September 25th)
Saturday October 8th ( So no one can visit Sunday October 2nd)
Saturday October 29th (So no one can visit Sunday October 23rd)
Saturday November 5th ( So no one can visit Sunday October 30th)
Saturday November 12th (so no one can visit on Sunday November 6th)
Saturday December 24th (so no one can visit Sunday December 18th)
Sunday December 25th (so no one can visit Saturday December 31st)
Michael is only allowed one visit per week, and the week runs Sunday through Saturday. That is why I list the other day that he can't have visitors that week, as if you show up there, they won't let you in. They make NO EXCEPTIONS!

Please send letters and cards separate from any packages containing books and/or magazines. Your letter will be sent back to you at Michael's expense, or thrown away.
You must put your full name and address on every piece of mail you send to Michael, or he will not get it! The prison makes NO exceptions!

I thought he was sentenced to the hole for 8 months...shouldn't he be out by december?

He was actually given 18 months in the hole, but usually it would be knocked down automatically by 1/3, and then as long as you're good, more time cuts so that's why he predicted 8 months. The man in charge right now is not giving any automatic time cuts, and so far Michael has seen other inmates come back from their time cut meeting very angry. Michael has not been to a time cut meeting yet, that's why we have no date for when he'll transfer out of Southport.
Michael usually can make it through Southport when he knows when the end is, and if it's a reasonable amount of time. Right now he's not doing well and has lost a lot of weight due to this stress.
I really don't know how he makes it through at all! Other inmates in there have stabbed someone with a knife and they spend less time in there than Michael!
I'm glad he's finally getting more visitors. I know it's a long way to drive, and Southport is not a pleasant place for us, but without visits I don't know how he'll make it through! Thank you!

Wow thats sounds so hard, I cannot even imagine what that would be like. I'm glad he is getting more visitors as well. I really hope he gets out soon!
Do you know how many times he has been to Southport? If so, have they always cut his time before?

I think it's his 3rd time there, and yes, his time was cut automatically in the past. I really don't know why this type of prison exits, as it's inhumane. Cold showers which they only get 3 times a week, horrible food (which is why he has recently dropped a lot of weight) and being isolated 24 hrs a day for months to years!
That's why I encourage people to write and visit, to try to keep him sane, but this time I'm worried and hoping he can make it through.

Hi. I live too far away, central Europe, so I'm not able to visit. I hope by the time I'll have the time and the means to get to the US, Michael will be out
I want to write him a letter - are there any subjects, topics, words etc. I should be careful of so they wouldn't throw away my letter?

Just don't talk about gangs, or pictures with any gang info on it.
They throw out letters if they are 3rd party, meaning you send them something someone else wrote.
Go for it and write to him!
