Michael Alig's Visiting Schedule
Michael has
visitors the following days:
Sunday November 20th (so no one can visit on Saturday November 26th
Sunday November 27th (so no one can visit Saturday December 3rd)
Saturday December 24th (so no one can visit Sunday December 18th)
Sunday December 25th (so no one can visit Saturday December 31st)
Saturday January 7th (so no one can visit Sunday January 1st)
Michael is only allowed one visit per week, and the week runs Sunday through Saturday. That is why I list the other day that he can't have visitors that week, as if you show up there, they won't let you in. They make NO EXCEPTIONS!
Please email me at comments@michaelaligblog.com to reserve your visiting time. You must be 18 to visit.
Please send letters and cards separate from any packages containing books and/or magazines. Your letter will be sent back to you at Michael's expense, or thrown away.
You must put your full name and address on every piece of mail you send to Michael, or he will not get it! The prison makes NO exceptions!

Thanks for posting his address! I've wanted to write him for a long time (probably 6 years) but just couldn't think of what to say. But now that I have an actual place to send him a letter, I will for sure send him something. I just want him to know that people are thinking of him! Is there any chance that he would really write back? Thanks again!!

Yes, he writes back! Most people are the same as you, wanting to write, but not doing it, but when they do and hear from Michael they wonder why they waited so long! He needs encouragement to make it through his time, as he's in a bad prison right now!

Since I haven't gotten a new letter yet, any news on how big the time cut he was supposed to be getting at the beginning of the month was? He said his last one was only a month, I think.
Reply to this
He ran out of stamps, so letters have been slowed down.
He received no time cut, and no reason given. He also lost all of his good time at his review, which is what he expected since everyone else lost there's as well. Once he does that 6 month drug program, he should get enough back from that to be released next year, but you never know what will happen! I'm so frustrated with the prison system!
Reply to this
What? Why did they all lose their good time?
Reply to this
I think they do it because they can! Everyone in Southport did something wrong to get in there, so I guess that's reason enough for them! I would think that their behavior in there should have something to do with it, but prison doesn't make sense!

It looks like the system is looking to keep Michael in as close to the full prison term as possible. I sure hope they don't make him stay past 2013.

Myself and a few others believe that there is someone who is trying to make him stay the whole time. I hope Michael stays strong enough to endure all the time they keep him there, that's why I try to encourage him and ask others to write and visit.

I was wondering what one would usually write in a letter to Michael, are then any subjects he enjoys reading/writing about and what areas to keep clear from? I am very eager to write to him and I am anxious for a reply

If you've never written to him before, then tell him about yourself. Be open and honest, you don't need to make up anything. Tell him how you got interested in him. He loves animals, tell him about your pets and send pictures of them.
A lot of people ask the same question so I hope this helps. Replies will take a bit longer right now as he's out of paper and only can get it once a month, which I think is around the end of the month.

Would I have to send a money or anything to pay for a reply letter? Like money for a stamp etc.
Reply to this
It's not a rule that you "have to" but in reality Michael has no income so the only way he can buy stamps is if people that write to him also send money for him to purchase stamps. I think for most of us out here, sending a dollar every other letter isn't a hardship. If you send more, then he could buy paper and pens as well. Where he is now, he can't receive packages, so we can't send him paper & pens.
Thank you for thinking of him!

Can we send him stamps or is that a nono?
Reply to this
It's a big No No! It's contraband. Please just send him a money order for the amount you would have used to buy the stamps so he can buy them there. Stamps are like cash in there, so they try to control how much everyone has.

If I where to send the money, how would I have to go about doing that? Would I have to put it in with the letter?
Reply to this
you can send him a check or money order with your letter. You must have his name and din # on it.
Reply to this
Does this also apply for countries outside America? EU to be more precise. Din # meaning?
Reply to this
checks and money orders must be in US funds. DIN # is 97A6595, as every inmate has a number that must be on everything sent to him.

It's so crazy because Freeze got into alot of minor and medium levels of trouble and he got out last march! What the hell could Michael have done to be treated so harshly? Some prisoners get popped for drugs alot and they get out early. I don't get it. Unless he said something to piss off the powers that be.
Reply to this
Yes, he did piss people off years ago, and some of us believe this is why he is still in. Last time he was about to get out, the staff at Coxsackie, including the warden, approved his release, but when it went to Albany where it's signed by one person, they said no. 99.9% of people who are approved before going to albany do get out.
getting back to who is out to get him, some people believe that he pissed the Feds off when he promised to testify against Peter Gatien, but then said he wouldn't, and didn't, so Peter just got sent out of the country.
Michael has been treated so unfair! he's like a puppy dog in a sea of sharks! he's nice, respectful, doesn't cause issues, so he should be rewarded for this behavior!

Thank you for the information

I do remember the feds going after Peter and acting like they had him big time. So I can see how they've kept tabs on Michael for not helping them out all the way. It was all on the NY news in the mid to late 90's when I lived in NYC. Fed's do hold grudges and have the pull to make things hard on a prisoner. Some drug infractions should not be keeping Michael in the whole time.
The Feds had many others that wouldn't help them out either against Peter. I just hope Michael minds his own business and keeps to himself. The NY prison system is so known for this crap.

All Michael did wrong at Franklin was be himself. He was just too friendly and too generous. The gangs don't like gays, so they thought they would take everything Michael had, Michael said no, so now he's been in Southport since a joint magically landed on his shelf, and a note to the CO's said exactly where it was.
So with that on the inside holding him back, and the people in Albany (probably Fed influenced) not letting him out on Conditional Release when it was recommended by Michael's Warden, there he sits.
He'll be in Maximum to do the drug program after Southport, so he'll be in a Cell and not have to worry about others. It's nuts that he has to do the drug program even though he tested negative for drugs! Another waste of tax payers money!

I hope those fuckers who set him up at Franklin stay locked up for a long time. Long after Michael is out and prospering again.
I'm glad he'll be in a cell after Southport. I hope he gets out of there soon so he can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

my father was in prison years ago in the early 90's and he told me so many things about how easy it is for an innocent prisoner to get into trouble.it's easier to stay out of trouble if you go along with the losers in there. It's the opposite in prison. minding your own business in prison makes you a target. it makes the losers nervous. the co's are really the ones that control the whole place. not the warden.

Michael was able to survive all these years by being smart. He was always worried about living in a Dorm in Medium security as he had to deal directly with people who didn't like him 24/7. Without his own Cell, he had no way to get away from people that caused him problems.

I'm gonna be so pissed if they try to keep him in the full 20 years!
I often worry about that because many people feel he should've gotten more time but he helped the feds and many felt he escaped 40 years in there. Albany feels that way. I wonder how he could do more time. He's strong.
Many men have killed and have gotten far less time. So crazy

I fully agree that somebody on higher ground is fucking him over. The same thing happened to someone else I knew that I was close to. I hope things turn out differently for Michael though. Glad to see he's getting some visits. I write him every week and I know he really could use all the support he could get right now. :/

He's lucky to have you as his friend, as not many people stick around for too long, as they always seem to drift away.

Do i really have to put my address on the envelope? Can i just write PO Box instead of the whole address? im underage and my mom doesn't really want me to write my address.. just PO BOX. Will he be able to receive my letter if i put only PO BOX???
Reply to this
Well, you can't write to him if you're under 18, sorry. A P.O. Box is an address, as long it's a 1st and last name, the box number, city, state and zip code on the envelope.

1st Degree Murderers get out in less time these days. Prison sentences never make sense. It's not like Michael planned to kill Amgel. It was a fight gone wrong.
