I know everyone gets busy, but it would be great if Michael got a good amount of Christmas cards this year! He has told me several times how upset he is because he can't send cards out this year because of where he is housed, so, he may send me a Christmas greeting to put on here for all of you.

What i was sayin was can anybody send him food packages? If so do u have a list of what he can and cant have? I wish he cud call for christmas but he said he can only have 15 numbers and im sure they are all takin up

Right now he can't have food packages. In the past when he was allowed, I had been doing it because there are weight restrictions per month, and within that it can only be 2 packages a month. Also, it's very hard to shop for him with the prison rules, as even if you follow them, a rule can change, or the person working there can just deny something. This results in the Guards getting a lot of expensive food that his friends paid for, shopped for, and mailed to him. I try to help out anyone who asks when they want to mail him a present, as there's so many rules! I've gotten good at it, but no way am I getting 100% of my packages in, as the prison makes nothing easy.
He doesn't have phone privileges now, but when he does, yes, he can only have 15 people on the list.
The one time he took a picture with me, I had to promise to keep it private, so I know there's no way any of his pictures will come out. I don't think they do the pictures at Southport anyway. Please, keep telling him that he's hot! Being in that place takes a toll on him, he needs to hear it more!

i am hoping for the same thing. that is all he can have, is cards. hope next year at this time he is either home or can at least make calls.

I'm still doing the cards for all the holidays & handmade a card for him for xmas. Although I'm scared about whether or not he'll get it from the guards since it is handmade, I'm sending a store bought card too. I also included a $5 check, so hopefully that'll help him out a bit too.

It depends what's on your handmade card, but that's a great idea to send two! The money will help, as it all adds up! I always make my cards, but they are printed from my computer, so they are always let in.

When is Michael getting out ? Freeze is out they both had the same time so what's the difference. I feel Michael has done his time he is a changed man. I hope and pray 2012 his his year. Have a Merry Christmass and a safe and happy New Year. Raymond T Charlton JR.

We don't know when he'll get out. Most likely once they let him out of Southport, he'll go to a Max prison, and will have to do a 6 month drug program. (even though he tested negative) After that he'll see the Conditional Release Committee to see if he has enough good time to be released. Also, he sees the Parole Board in July, but he never even thinks they'll release him. I think there's a chance, not a big chance but some.
Many people, including myself, believe there's someone in Albany that doesn't like Michael, and they make sure he doesn't get out.

Is it ok if people that don't know him personally send him letters or does he only like to get cards from like friends/family, people he actually knows?
Because I have a letter all written out for him but since I don't know him personally, I don't know if I should send it or not.

Yes! Send him a letter and card, that's the way to get it started! Many people have become his friend that same way. Tell him about yourself, why you're interested in him. He needs all the encouragement and support he can get.

That is exactly what i did, he will write to u he seems to enjoy it, tell him anything, u got to understand those letters r his way out of there in mind anyway. He is very honest, but dont get upset if u dont get a letter the next day he has many ppl he writes, and of course his writing supplies are limited! Now, send that letter! We luv u michael, and yes u r freakin hottttttttt

I remember when I was in the hospital getting surgeries when I was younger, getting cards/letters gave me something to do and kept my spirits up...I'm glad to see people are doing the same thing for Michael.

You can send them either way, but also please tell him in a letter what books you ordered. They just give him books, he doesn't see the package so doesn't know who sent what unless you tell him. I'm in the middle of a letter to him so I will mention it.

Im already workin on another letter to michael. We cant decide on what christmas cards to get so we will get all 4. I encourage everyone to write to him, he is so interesting, i think the letters, cards and pics provide enjoyment to us both! We luv u michael!!!!! Luv robert and josh

That is great! You really are making a difference in Michael's days, as he's in a bad place and really needs to be distracted by us on the outside! You are correct on his letters, as I don't find myself laughing too much in my life, but sometimes all it takes is a letter from Michael!
Pics are a great way to take him mentally out of that place, and he loves animals, especially cats, so please share your pets with him.

I am wondering if i send him a letter and card am i able to send him money for writing supplies etc? I know I have read it helps him out with all the letters he gets. Also I know some places limit stamps & paper etc is that the case here?

Yes, you can send him money along with cards and letters, and it really helps! Michael won't ask for money, but in reality he can't buy stamps and writing supplies without it! He is limited on stamps he can buy, but does what he can to get as many as he can. He does run out at times, as I believe he's out right now as I judge it by how many letters I get.

No, not at this prison. I'm not sure what they cost there, as stamps are the most costly and there's a limit per month he's allowed to buy. (no, we can't send him stamps) It's very thoughtful to help, so at a minimum it's nice to send him postage money so he can write back to you. If people don't send any money he won't be able to write back, but he'll never ask for money, so I just suggest it.

I do believe he is out of paper, my last letter i got from him was ended using a piece of paper from my last letter. I just sent out a christmas card today. We have three more to send. Im working on a letter to him right now. It just started to snow so first thing in the am. I will b takin pics to send to him. Yes his letters do bring me joy, like a little kid at christmas. I have seen the documentary about Michael sometime ago. But only watched the film Party Monster recently. Michael isn't too different from people into the hard house scene in the uk, apart from the incident.
Me and my husband make hard house tracks and I am wanting to make one dedicated to Michael but need to persuade my husband

Dear mom a, Got out a christmas card out to michael and have a letter to go out in the morning. I promise u he will get more cards from us! To see a letter from him brightens my day!!!!!! This is the first time I will be writing to Michael. Finding it hard to send money! As as far as I'm aware, he hasn't got a PayPal account and as I am in the UK and never sent money abroad before, I'm sort of at a brick wall, but working hard and quickly to send him a letter and a card that will get there before Christmas (and if possible, a 'Boyz' magazine! If anyone has done this before and can give me any advice, please let me know!

I don't know about the money, and NY does not have a way to send him money electronically. Please don't send anything with the magazine, as he won't get it, you'll need to send it separate.

I'm from the U.k too - a friend of mine works in the post office - I told him that I needed to send out a postal order but that it needs to be in dollars and he sorted it out for me - I'm not really sure how but if you ask them they can do it easily
I send him out a couple of magazines a months - the post office charges alot (the first time it cost me about £25 to just send supersuper and attitude!) so now I send them through UPS from a staples store

When sending pictures can they just be included in the envelope with a card? Or do they have to be separate? Also what are we allowed to send in the way of Christmas gifts?

You can send Pictures with letters, but at this prison I don't recommend sending them with cards, but I could be wrong. It's best to tell Michael if you sent pictures in case he doesn't get them. No normal prison gifts allowed there, but he can receive money, books, & magazines. If you do send something please let him know in a separate letter, as he doesn't receive any of the packaging so has no idea who sends him things!

i jst want 2 ask you for advice... i know many ppl are asking the same questions but i must make sure what's the best way to send magazines, money and pics to Michael. should i send a letter 1st and then everything separately just with a note in the letter what ii sending or i can post everything in one bigger pack? are there any restrictions in that prison about size of packing? is it enough if i send money so he can buy what he needs and how much i can send? should i send postal order aswell or if i send money he will be able to buy them? im from UK so i ve already read that someone asked on post office to change pounds for dollars on postal stamps so it should help. Thank you all for help.

The easy way to put this, if you send books and/or magazines, send them separately, meaning, no letters, money, cards, or pics packaged with books and mags. All the other things, send how and in any combination you want.
In this prison all he's allowed mailed in is books, magazines, and mail. (letters, cards, pics & money)
No package size restrictions for magazines and books. If he's allowed to have it, then he can have it.
We can NEVER send stamps, that's why I suggest people send money as he must buy stamps there.
There's no money limit, but sending over $100.00 is not good, as they may think he's into drugs. (The prison staff has no common sense
Money must be in US funds, cash, money order or check.
Being in the UK, it would be great to send him those Fav mags he likes from there, although I don't know how many people are sending him "Boyz" & Supersuper" but with Boyz you could always send back issues as well. The amount he's received compared to the amount people said they were sending is very low, so it's a low risk for him getting doubles on back issues. Even if there's other mags only available there that you think he would like, that would be very special for him!

Got a letter from michael today, he seemed in good spirits other than he cant send cards for christmas, i keep the letters and pics going to him to keep him happy. I can honestly say ive made a true friend. I hope others will show their support and send cards and letters! He answers all, when he can. Hopefully he will be out of southport in april. We got a letter yesterday, yes there is joy in those letters i recieve! Im terminally ill and when i get his letters it takes away the pain. He will always have a true friend here! Im composing a letter now, i try once or twice a week. He is so hotttt!!!!!!! I cant wait to meet him in person!! Michael alig we luv you, luv robert and josh. I used to try to send the blog to him, but this prison won't let it in. It's "3rd party mail" to the prison, as you can only send what you write. Once in a while I'll send him a message from someone in quotes, but that's it.

I am from the UK and am wondering if I can send money in the card / letter to Michael? As I am having tremendous trouble sending money to him.. I know that MoneyGram and PayPal is not suitable.. If anyone can give me some advice or help, I would appreciate it.

It must be in US funds, so you can get a money order there in US funds and mail it to him.

HI Ive wanted to reach out for so long and never really knew how to do it... does Michael hav a different address for packages or they just hav to be sent seperately from letters? i just want to send paper and stamps and pictures. can he have markers? or pens? maybe not. Michael needs to know that he isnt alone and that there are people out here that care, even if we dont know him personally. i for one have been touched by what's NOT happening with his release. whats done is done. Michael deserves a chance to live in the world again. We needed him once to shake us up, now maybe we can be there to stand with him for whatever he faces next.

he has the same address for anything you send him.
We can NEVER send stamps. When he's moved out of this prison, we'll be able to send him packages, but they're not allowed at this prison. You can send him books and magazines! You can send pictures.
I'm hoping we can make his birthday (4/29) a great day, as he should be out of that prison, and in one where he can receive packages. It's not easy to follow the prison rules for packages, as if it's not exactly that way the rules state, it's a waste of our money, and if he sends it back, a waste of his money.

That's great that you want to write to him as yes, any communication with people outside of prison is what keeps him sane. Can't send stamps, but you can send him money so he can buy them there. You can send letters (5 pages per envelope),cards, money orders or checks in a regular envelope. He's allowed Magazines and books, but they must be sent in a separate package. Here's the address and rules for addressing the envelope;
Please send letters and cards separate from any packages containing books and/or magazines. Your letter will be sent back to you at Michael's expense, or thrown away.
You must put your full name and address on every piece of mail you send to Michael, or he will not get it! The prison makes NO exceptions!
