Michael Alig's Visiting Schedule

Michael has visitors the following days:

Saturday January 7th (so no one can visit Sunday January 1st)

Saturday February 11th (so no one can visit on Sunday, February 5th)

Michael is only allowed one visit per week, and the week runs Sunday through Saturday. That is why I list the other day that he can't have visitors that week, as if you show up there, they won't let you in. They make NO EXCEPTIONS!

Please email me at comments@michaelaligblog.com to reserve your visiting time. You must be 18 to visit.

Please send letters and cards separate from any packages containing books and/or magazines. Your letter will be sent back to you at Michael's expense, or thrown away.

You must put your full name and address on every piece of mail you send to Michael, or he will not get it! The prison makes NO exceptions!

I have not written or sent any mail to Michael before. I was wondering what kind of stuff we are allowed to send Michael, like are small canvas' for painting allowed or no? Just curious because I'd like to send some if it were possible. If not can you provide me with the type of things he is allowed to recieve?

Right now he can't receive much. Once he moves to another prison there will be many more things you can send. He can't paint now at all.

Now, he can have books, magazines, newspapers, letters and cards. Letters and cards should not be mailed in the same package/envelope, as they go to different rooms for approval, so either the letter or books/mags will be rejected. There's no common sense in prison, so don't even bother asking anymore questions about that rule!

      This info is for you and everyone who writes;
Make sure your complete name and address is on the envelope, or it WILL be rejected, then Michael wastes a stamp to mail it to me, then I waste a stamp mailing back to him with hopefully the real name and addy on it. That means I open your letters (I don't read them), so address them right and only the prison staff will see what you write!

I have never seen this blog before today but have been reading old posts. I have never written to Micheal and would not know what to say anyway!
I have been torn about the case from what I've read but believe that he should be free by now, especially as far worse people who show no remorse for their actions get better treatment than Micheal seems to have received.
I am so sorry (especially to people who know him personally) if I have offended anyone by even questioning Michael and his actions, but I'm still learning about things relating to Micheal and his life.
I was also wondering if he gets visits from people who haven't known him personally? (I'm not planning this, as for one, I have no clue how to act when visiting a prisoner whom I don't know and I'm also not from/living in America) but was curious as to if that is even allowed?

Most people who Michael writes to now, and who visits are people he met who wrote to him in prison. If you have the urge to write, you should! Just like getting to know anyone else, you may click with him or not.

So, of course he gets visits from people he didn't know, but got to know through letters. Anyone is still nervous to visit him, not just being the 1st time to see him, but also going to a prison! With everyone I have spoken with, it takes less than 5 minutes for Michael to make you feel like you've known him for years, and the laughter comes along with it! So yes, people who don't know him well can visit, but he can also refuse a visit so that's why I help schedule them so that never happens.

Hi, I've been interested in Michael and the Club Kid era for a while now, but I never thought to write. If I do, are there any specific things I shouldn't write about-, things that he doesn't like to hear? I have no intention of writing about the movies or the murder, but I know some inmates don't like to hear that you hope they get released soon and things like that. I was also wondering if he responds to mail. I don't know Michael's specific situation, but I know some people can't write back or get so many letters that they can't even read them all.

You can write, and he usually writes back, as he can receive letters, cards, pictures, books & magazines. At the moment he is having a physical problem, and writing causes him pain, so he's not able to write as much as he was. Another deterrent is a lack of stamps, (we can't send him stamps, against the rules) so I suggest (Michael would never ask this) everyone sends him enough money to reply to your letter. He gets a lot of mail and has no income so that only makes sense, but it seems that many people who write never think about it!

What not to write about? Stupid, non interesting things like "what kind of corn do you like."

Does Michael still write you Lovepurple? What's going on now with him? When is he getting out of the hole?
Can he call you anymore? How's he holding up? Is he still alone in his cell 24 hours a day?

We have never stopped writing over all these years, especially now because he doesn't have phone privileges. Yes, he's in the Hole still, and if he gets his last time cut he'll get out of there in April. He's still alone in his Cell 24 hrs a day, but has a physical injury that is not being treated (even though he keeps requesting medical help), so he's having a hard time writing.

That pisses me off! He's serving his time and that's what he's doing to re-pay back his debt to society but these co's lay back and let him suffer with an injury. His injury needs to be treated then. Prisoner's need medical help and people feel they don't deserve it because they committed a crime. I remember a letter from Michael where he told me he was so sick with the flu and he didn't even get an aspirin! I hate how they treat him there. I'd go insane if I had to live like that. He's stronger than most of us.

He's very strong, and I really don't know how he makes it through! They are treated like animals there, not human beings. They have to shut up and do as they're told, or they get written up! When it comes to their health, they should be allowed to advocate for themselves, but they can't as it will be "disobeying a direct order." Did you know that every time they are written up, they have to pay $5.00! Even if they fight it and win, they don't get the money back. It's like out here with speeding tickets, they have a quota! We are attempting to help Michael with his medical issue now, but it's not easy to find someone that works in the prison that will take the chance and help an inmate out!

He's told me about a personal health issue he needed help for and never got treated for it and that really pissed me off.
How prisoners cant sue is beyond me. I live in CT and the prisoners here are treated much better. How can a prisoner get sick and have no care? They really get treated like animals. I understand they're not at Club Med but common! lol
Most of these co's were picked on as kids and they become co's to take their frustration's out on the prisoners. It's a complex they carry from their childhood.

It's not right at all! The problem is, if he makes too much noise, he be treated even worse, so we wait for him to ask us to help him, which he did. Some wheels started turning already, hopefully he'll get treatment!

What ever happened to that girl from Washington state that flew to see Michael?
Michael told me about her in some letters. He loved her. He used to tell me so much about her. I'll be writing him today.
I was also wondering how to get on his call list. He tells me he'd love to hear my voice but I don't know how to talk to him at the prison.

I want to go visit him so bad but I have no way of getting there. I don't trust my car due to the engine problems and I wish i had a person that can go with me. Alot of fans talk a big game but as soon as I offered to pay for the hotel and gas if they use their car, They all back down. They're afraid to meet him. WIMPS.
I'll get there on my own. Once my engine is fixed.

A Check or money order is better, cash can be lost, but if you do send cash write in your letter to him that you sent cash and how much. And yes, just put the money in with your letter.

Sending cash could be a risk, it's better to send a check or money order. Please have his name and DIN # on it, and your name and if there's a place for your address fill that in. Thank you so much for thinking of him!

I would very much like to visit Michael however, I can't seem to find a town close enough to pine city that Amtrak will take me to. Do you know of any towns that are close enough that i'd be able to take a taxi from the station and not have it be an hour away? It might sound strange but, I feel like I understand Michael after reading amd watching interviews. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. -Pete-O

Your best bet is taking a bus to Elmira. There's even prison buses that leave from NYC around 1am. Just look online to find them. People usually know when they're connected with him, so it doesn't sound strange! Have you been writing to him?

I think that's fine! It's just common sense, making sure he has enough money to be able to write back to you, as that shouldn't be the reason you don't get a letter back! He tries to write back to everyone, but get's backed up at times when he runs out of stamps, as they regulate how many he can buy and how often.

Hello! I just put two letters in the mail today; I went ahead and put the money order by itself in one envelope just in case it might go through faster...
The other envelope has a letter and a picture my daughter drew for him using crayons (her dad was in prison for 4 years and she drew pics for him too); hopefully there won't be a problem with that - wouldn't want him to not get my letter. : )

It's pretty nice of you to do what you do; this is nothing compared to the time, effort and loyalty you show him.
I told him in my letter that he doesn't have to write me back if he doesn't want to; I realize he has a lot of people he writes and receives letters from.
I just want you and him to know I am not demanding anything of him. I hate demanding people. Just because I sent him some money, he shouldn't feel obligated to write back; he has the freedom of choice whether or not to, he has minimal freedoms right now and he should reserve that right.
I just want to help him out and hoped to brighten his day a little. That is what I would want somebody to do for me if I was in that position. I also know from experience it doesn't take much but the right set of circumstances to be in that (or a similar) position.
Of course it would be nice to hear from him (I'm not going to lie), but I'll support him either way. : )
You are truly one in a million, thanks for all you do!

Thank you for caring for him as well!
